Alfie's Boys

What a magnificent piece of TV.... the BBC for all it's faults comes up with some absolute masterpieces... touching, funny and most of all humbling... best piece of TV I have ever seen about the 66 boys...
Bless em all

Well said Sold. It was excellent. Sad, though, to see how more and more of them are slipping away.

Has Bobby C got a touch of the Parkinson's?? Was shaking a real lot... proper emotional he was getting re-telling some of the tales... the story with Alf, Bally, Nobby and the dog with the stick was brilliant... imagine that happening now with Woy and his midfield !!
The diplomatic scandal with Alf refusing to backdown with the Argies was excellent...
Loved every second of it

Not sure but Charlton has been like that for a few years when I've seen him interviewed.

Greavsie is still bitter about missing out. Love the way Hurst brushed it off as all part of the game.

Alfie was a Dagenham boy. Dagenham is the only town in the land to produce two England managers, plus I hear Sven-Göran Eriksson used to holiday in Becontree Health as a lad.

Sold - Bobby C has been shaking like that for probably 20 years now.
Won't bother with this, sure it is well made but I've had a belly full of the 66 win now, I thought most people had, I mean peopel in real life, not a few wets on here, 50 frigging years ago ffs.

It's the first '66 program that's given proper credit to Alf Ramsey.
Because of his dislike of the press he has been ignored in the whole episode. The WC win was down to him, but made heroes of all the players

Was there a better site of Bobby Charlton, running through the middle of the park, hair flowing in the wind before SMASHING the ball into to top corner?

'but I've had a belly full of the 66 win ''
Yes but this is the first program ever that focused on the true personalities of that win and not just showing the goals of the match which was refreshing and coming from the dull play it safe BBC even more surprising.
